Click here for news archive. Rockin on Paper March 17, 2007 'Rockin on Paper' is a 320 pages full color history on the Vera Club and it's posters. The Vera Club in Groningen has been renowned for being a cool place to perform for the Alternative Music Scene. Part of it's charm are the posters: silk screened with lots of original artwork. Memento's for both audience and band. This book contains a broad selection of the archived posters (more than 300) between the really early years and somewhere around 2005. Next to it a short historical overview of the Club and some personal memories on some of the -for a variety of reasons- more memorable performances including Lee Ranaldo, Kim Gordon and others. With the book comes a DVD containing six live tracks from Sonic Youth. Thanks Peter and Robert.

Sonic Youth, initially comprising of guitarist /
vocalists Thurston
Moore and Lee
Ranaldo, guitarist / bassist / vocalist Kim
Gordon and drummer Richard Edson, were formed in New York City in 1981. A product
of the No-Wave music scene of the late 1970s, the group had their roots in abrasive,
experimental music, with Moore and Ranaldo having previously worked with the
experimental composer Glenn Branca. The band were joined in 1985 by drummer Steve
Shelley, and have now recorded 14 albums together, as well as many side and solo
projects. Their work has been consistently challenging and innovative, and they
are widely regarded as one of the most intriguing and influential bands of their
time.
