Click here for news archive. New SY tunes! November 13, 2003 OK, this might be old news to most of you lot, but Sonic Youth have been playing new songs (at Flywheel, Easthampton on Nov. 1st and All Tomorrow's Parties, Los Angeles , Nov. 8th), apparently from the upcoming album that is said by Lee to be coming out within six months or so. A tour will pretty certainly follow. Among the new titles are "City Grass", "Unmade Bed", "Maaco" and "Peace Attack" (which has been played live before, though). Witnesses say these tunes sound not too much unlike that of Murray Street. Hooray! This and more hot gossip going on at the SonicYouth.com Fan Forum. November 27th Update Dusted Magazine have a feature of All Tomorrow's Pacific with a Lee interview. November 28th Update Dan sent us some pics from the gig... plenty more of his pictures (Minutemen Duo, Watt & Hurley, Magic Band, et al) can be found here! However, this page didn't work for me, for some reason... Thanks Dan.

Sonic Youth, initially comprising of guitarist /
vocalists Thurston
Moore and Lee
Ranaldo, guitarist / bassist / vocalist Kim
Gordon and drummer Richard Edson, were formed in New York City in 1981. A product
of the No-Wave music scene of the late 1970s, the group had their roots in abrasive,
experimental music, with Moore and Ranaldo having previously worked with the
experimental composer Glenn Branca. The band were joined in 1985 by drummer Steve
Shelley, and have now recorded 14 albums together, as well as many side and solo
projects. Their work has been consistently challenging and innovative, and they
are widely regarded as one of the most intriguing and influential bands of their
time.
